Winter wonderland

Well, the lights are still on in Texas. At least, for the time being. It's in the twenties currently and not predicted to get much better for the next couple of days. My RV I keep on Lake Travis north of Austin is in the teens. I suppose I'll have to replace a few plumbing parts that have frozen when I get up there in about a week.

How's is going in your neck of the woods??

I am still with temps from around 9 above to 38 degrees, for the most part, so far. Running about normal for my area. Snow and rain, off and on.
But we will still probably drop below zero in the next few weeks.

In SW MT it "warmed" to -25F this morning...Hey, when it was -42 just two days ago, we'll take -25F any day! If the weather forecast can be believed, we might see high temps in the mid 30s by the weekend! I'm not breaking out my tank tops or Bermuda shorts just yet...

How's is going in your neck of the woods??

Well, it was -12 here for the past few evenings, with 18" of snow on the ground. It took two hours for wifey and me to shovel the driveway and clear the snow off my truck. Thankfully our Audi A4 is toasty in the garage. This is the guy who has procrastinated for years about buying a snow blower, thinking if I did it would not snow for five years. Well it snowed all right, and guess who doesn't have a snow blower? So much for that flawed logic. This stuff is great for tracking elk and deer in the snow, but sucks for being at home, driving in it, and for our two girl Hound dogs trying to find a place in the yard to poop and pee. That's a separate chore, keeping a place ice and snow free for them.

Every year I must winterize our 20' Lance travel trailer to avoid freeze-up and burst pipes, usually in the first week of October. I sincerely hope your trailer fares well Skipper, as fixing burst RV water piping is not any fun at all. Best of luck in that regard, buddy. Fingers crossed for you.

Yup it is.

Warming up soon, so we might not have to shovel it. But it's been shoveled many times in the past when it gets much worse. We've got two roof layers, and ice dams installed to minimize the overall effects. Been here 50 years, learned a bit in that time.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has asked Texans to conserve electricity tomorrow morning between 6 and 9 am. Oh boy, here we go again folks.

I remember a few years ago Texans were all iced up and out of power for a few days or more. We were asked to use less electricity to help out with sending power down to the power grids down there.

Rick, those hounds would look like snow submarines in that front yard. Be pretty fun to watch.
