35 gr Bergers to the range...

Post by Guy M »

WOW! Sorry, forgot to take any photos of the groups. Let's just say they were all one hole groups except for a couple of called flyers... Berger apparently makes a fine bullet for the .204, which really shouldn't surprise me given how well they've shot for me in bigger calibers.

Took a little walk after, to see if chucky was out enjoying the afternoon sunshine. No sign of chucky. Perhaps later... :D

My Encore has shot some really great groups with the Bergers. They are by far my favorite bullet for this rifle. It shoots well with Hornady and Sierras but really comes to life with the Bergers.

If I don't meet success with the Hornadys, I'm going Berger next. Or perhaps Sierra...

The bergers print out very nice groups and typically aren't to fussy with powder choices or amounts. To bad they have such a low BC.

I agree gube! In a calling situation where ranges are shorter I see them having a purpose but past 350 yards they serve no purpose to me.

Yeah, up to this point I've mostly been using the 40 gr V-Max which has a much higher BC, but thought to give the Bergers a try... And I was very impressed with their accuracy.

Loaded w/40 gr V-Max bullets:

Most of my varmint shooting has been in broken hills, sagebrush, lava rock etc... A 300+ yard shot is fairly rare for me, except at the range. Hope to see how the Bergers do for me within a few weeks! Not that I ever had a real complaint about the V-Max bullets either.. Just messin' around with the loads a bit out of curiosity.

Regards, Guy

Any of you guys compared the Nosler plastic tip bullets to the V-Max bullets? I bought both but haven't reloaded any yet. Gary
