Going over max load 32g sbk

Post by Thunder Chicken »

Would there be any problems going up to 27.5 gr of H322 with a 32 gr sbk the load data I have says 26.2g is the max. The vmax load can go up to 27.5gn is there that much differents in the two bullets that going with the vmax load data while loading 32gn sbk that it could cause a problem. What do yall think

It would take an entire reloading manual to completely answer that question. The only way to know for sure is to work up to it with your rifle, your brass, your primers, your lot of powder, and your batch of bullets. Compare the data from any two different manuals or any of the powder manufactures. They all have different max loads for different reasons.

The bullet composition and the bearing surface will be different between the SBK and the VMAX. It's kind of like comparing apples to apples, granny smith and golden delicious. Yes, they're both apples and not red, but they have a lot of differences.

.204 Ruger Guns: None. Had a 16" barreled rear grip SP that was WAY too wild.

Looks like the previous post pretty much covered it! If you're running your load "over max", the only place you can go is DOWN. You're not leaving yourself any wiggle room.
IMHO, you're better off backing down to an accuracy node where you've got room to work.
You load at 55*. You go shooting and it's 90*+. You get pressure signs with your "over max" loaded ammo and there isn't anything you can do.
If you had loaded a mid range "accurate load", you would have room to adjust. And high pressure loads are tough on brass as well as actions and barrels.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO FAST TO BE ACCURATE! ;)
