does anyone have any load data for 45 grain bullets for the .204 ruger?

I just purchased so of the 45gr Hornaday 45gr SP. I gun is a 1-11 twist MGM 24" barrel. I went with H4895 24.4 REM and Winchester brass 2.255COAL.

I have not yet tried the load yet. I been shooting factory 40gr V-max hornady up for the brass got them cheap. My load is the 39gr SBK 26.5 of H4895.
Choot under 3/8. NASTY when it hit.

It will be a week or so before I can try the 45grs. on paper

what is the velocity supposed to be?I tried going to favorite loads all i could find were people talking about them,but could not find any load data.I have ordered some custom 45 gr boatail,forgot to ask Don if he had data,i think he makes from 35-60 grainers,i have -2 1 in 11" barrels.I have had great luck w/27.6 gr varget,28 w-748,24.9 h-322,26.5 h-335 and the 39 gr SBK,would appreciate any info on the 45 gr bullet,looked on internet found o

UPDATE: Got to chot some of the 45gr Hornady SP with 24.4 H4895, Winchester brass RP brass. both around an inch. Hornady brass super around 1/2 place to start. that was on a soso rest.

Sounds like your rifle likes hornady brass. I usually use Hornady,WIN,i have NEW Norma and Nosler; but dont like that they are always 5-10 short.Trim to length is 1.840 just miced some 1.827-1.834. I,ve been shooting Hornady since 2009.The new hornady is dead on concentric, properly prepped;but about 5-8 grains lighter than the old hornady.I have a bunch of the old thats been loaded at least 20 -30 times .The RP brass is usually not concentric not the greastest quality.I have used it w/35 and 40 gr bergers.When i get the 45 grs i am going to try TAC,Varget,Win 748,Benchmark,and H-335.Hope you get 1 hole groups, Sound like you need to get a good bag ,i got a PROTEKTOR rear bagI I have been using Harris BRM Bipods ,wish i,d bought the Protecktor 10 years ago.Nothing worse than wobely rest.IT MAKES a Huge Differance.

On your trim length, some say 1840 some say 1850. It like the Hornady Brass with t he 45gr. the 39gr SBK in all brass shoot light out. The Remington brass was bulk brass seems very nice and weights out good. I have a PROTEKTOR rear bag also, and Caldwell front rest. Problem the place to go shoot off a good bench set up is closed due to fire danger. My bench is 3/4" laminated top so it not so heavy to set up on PD towns. I basically play with the 45s for a project kill.

1.840 is standard trim to length,1.850 is supposed to be max,My krieger and criterion barrels can be 1.854-1.855 but i trim to 1.845-1.846 thats where i get most accurate loads have tried 1.851-1.852.Hope you get some rain so they open your place to shoot ,mine was closed for a week for cuttin hay. Sux big time;

If you can afford it,i'd get a bipod ;i think it's better to use .i used to use Caldwell lead sled DFT and Fire Contoll rests.you can make bench more solid by adding front legs to it to stop movement; i used 3/4" pipe flanges on mine w/adjustable feet.Let us know how the 45 grainers work out. varget204

I trim mine at about 48, I had a Harris bipod years ago, didn't like it. I have a Caldwell lead sled for chooten my 300Winmag, Me bench has 4legs with wide feet. Works good. If nothing else I try the 45gr on paper in AZ next month, on a PD shoot.

I went today with a little different load .002 gr more of H4895 seating off the ojive. Shot .800. going to tweak it alittle call it good, for my project. But I will say that bullet is BAD, killed a jack about 135yrds look like you shot a furry pillow, another threw about a foot.
