Here we go again.

Post by WHISTLEPIG »

Just read this on Benchrest Central. Hope it is not correst but I bet it is. Just ordered 1500 Dogtowns which I have been meaning to do. Will order another two or three thousand 32VMs when someone has them in stock.

WP: I know Varmint Guy, good sort, honest and knowledgeable too.

He is right, I've heard this same thing from two individuals, both at large outfits that are in the know. Not good news (have you seen the market today? ), but correct nonetheless.

We're going to be in for some hard times me thinks. You know how it is when prices spike like this, they seldom, if ever come back down...... :| Time to stock up if you can.

Are we talking about the same Varmint Guy who came on this forum a while back and was demanding apologies from our moderators??? He was asked to leave, if this is the same guy I'm thinking about. Glen and Glenn is this the same guy?

Skip: I do not believe it's the same individual. The fellow I'm familiar with is a long time BRC and GGVG forum member, and is nowhere like the 'person' you refer to......I remember THAT 'person' (I'm being kind here) very well.

The price hike info is real in any event. You only have to wait a month or so to prove it accurate or not. I've heard it myself from reliable sources, so do not need other internet 'information' to prove it true or false. We can again thank our polluting neighbors across the Pacific for most of this blight on us and our economy. Thee are of course other factors at work here, but that is the bulk of the reason.

I've got a pretty good stockpile of .224" on hand, but I could use more .204" stuff. I guess I'd better get to nosing around. Anyone see any 32 NBTs for sale anywhere?

Hi skipper. It's hard to tell from just one post but I've also heard the rumours about the price increases from my local shops. I was told June/July on almost every gun maker & all ammo & the components for the ammo by September. :wall: I guess I'm lucky in that my CF's only consume a couple hundred rds per year & my RF's get about 1,000. Mass shooting for me is when the crows are around here which isn't all that often anymore. :(

A lead smelter in Missouri has been out of production for almost 9 months now, due to technical reasons, so that's put a pinch on supplies, too, since they are likely supplying some of the bullet makers (Sierra, for sure). Kinda sounds like an oil refinery excuse thingy   :eew:

I work in the shooting industry. There will be at least a 15% increase in September and another 15% increase in December. That is what we are being told for now.

Will the price hike affect powder and primers as well?

The price increase will affect anything with metal in it. We do not see any huge increases is powder but the primers are due to go up.
