.204 Bullets at Midsouth

Post by Njanear »

This may be "old hat" to some of you, but I did want to post that Midsouth has .204 34gr FBHP bullets for $34.14 per 500.

MIDSOUTH BARGAINS VARMINT NIGHTMARE EXTREME 20CAL .204DIA 34GR PREMIUM FLAT BASE HOLLOW POINT 500 PK:

I received my 1st 1000 yesterday and compared them visually to the Midway Dog Towns that I also picked up a few months back - they appear to be the same EXACT Nosler SHOTS bullet (small HP, flat base, same profile, shiny and TINY :D ). They are packaged in a heavy plastic bag instead of a nice box. I have been a lurker long enough to know that the Midways should be kept around the 3800 fps mark and not to expect much beyond 200 yards - but the two should satisfy my NEF at the range (no prairie dogs here in GA, and the other varmints & predators are few and far between for me right now :? ). If they don't satisfy me through the NEF, I may just have to go get another .204  - as the cartridge definitely appeals to me.

Njanear Welcome to the forum.

Darn thats a good price!!! I'm just about to screw on my original Sav 204 barrel with over 4000 rds thru it for yet another experiment. "Ultra Bore Coat" ceramic bore coating. Want to see if it can smooth out a pretty worn tube to get a few more miles out of it.
That tube liked 35 Bergs but you reminded me of a long past due task of developing a load for the 34's. I think I'll start there. Much cheaper and I'll know by the bore condition if it'll shoot even if the 34's won't.
Not sure why Nosler put the 3800 fps rule into effect. I've launched a few at 4250 or so and they all made it to the target. Not suggesting you try reaching those speeds but I wouldn't worry about the bullet past 3800 if you can get past there safely.

Savage VLP + NF 12x42 + 35 Bergers = .

Thanks for the welcome. I will definitely give them a try at the different levels and see what I come up with.

I have just started with the Midway Dogtowners and have shot them at 100 yds. with the same load that has given me 4025 fps with v-max. I haven't had time to chrono these yet( weather and such). The accuracy seems good with 2 of my 204's.
