I have some loaded and ready to test tomorrow. I will let you know how they shoot. I will be using them in a CZ varmint 204. The 35 Berger's have done well with 10x, varget and benchmark, half in. average at 100 yds. I am hoping to do a little better with the H4895.

H4895 in my gun was a waste of time. Appears fliers ruled out the use of this powder for me!

Thanks.
It's rained here for several days. Today i took advantage of a 1 hour respite and fired 3 rounds with 35g bergers/26.5gr h4895 for 3593 fps, 2 were touching and 1 was 3/4" low.
3 rounds with 27.5 gr h4895 produced 3787 fps, 2 touching and 1 was 3/4"HIGH. These were at 80yds. Rifle is brno 601 with Pacnor 25" match barrel. Not much fun lying in a muddy field, will try again when rain stops, although we might have a bit more snow on the way. ken.

Hi,
I use 28.2 gr. of h4895 with f205m primers at 2.260 O.A.L. I get around .2-.3 at 100 yds with Kimber Pro Varmint.

kenbrofox--My Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger was purchased in early June of 2004. I finally got some 35 gr. Berger bullets around the end of October and worked on finding an accurate load. When I was using 35 gr. FBHP Bergers for coyote hunting, I used and EXTREMELY HOT LOAD of H4895. Muzzle velocity ranged between 4,227 fps and 4,240 fps. This was not a load you would want to shoot on a hot summer day. It was strictly my coyote load for cooler weather.

Here's a group I shot after settling in on the powder charge and seating depth when doing final adjustments on the scope for this load back on November 4, 2004:

Here's a picture of a group for that load shot on January 20, 2006:

A couple buddies of mine with .204 Rugers use 28.0 gr. of H4895 with the 35 gr. FBHP Bergers and have phenomenal success on coyotes with that load combination. I don't remember what they get for velocity with that load, but I'd guess it was around 3,850 fps.

Silverfox,
Thats some load! 30+ at a guess? Nice groups. I think i'll stay around 28ish. Do you no longer use that combo?
Cheers IKE.
FireBallGuy, looks like your gun lost interest in 35s and 4895.
Ethan, looks like you got the job right with those groups.
Al, please post your results when you get them.
It's looking like the best loads are going to be somewhere around Hodgdons top end figures at 28ish, which will suit me fine.
Thanks again to everyone. :D Ken.
PS. Gube, if you read this. What's your go to powder for 35 bergers?

I have been thinking that I may re visit H4895 again as I have done NO work with it since the gun was new. Maybe now we can get some usable results from this powder.

I will. I have had little luck with this powder in other guns despite people telling me how GREAT it is. Together with the new redding match dies and armed with A LOT more info about my gun, maybe I can find a way to make this stuff work for me. Have 2 pounds of it just sitting there....

FBG,
Thats the reason i'm using it too. Bought a pound for my .14, and thats very economical. If i don't use some it in the .204 there'll still be some left when i die. ken. PS. better clarify. The 4895 is so economical in the 14 that it dosen't use any at all, i'd bought the wrong powder, should've been 4198.

Good point ken! My daughters boyfriend's savage 22-250 appears to like H4895....worse case, I can dump it on him. Will keep you posted.
