Varmints in the Headlines!

Post by Rick in Oregon »

Today I opened the paper to see one of my favorite critters looking back at me....now this is what I call a good newspaper!

I'm betting the folks in the big cities don't even know what this critter is......but we do, don't we?

At this time of year around here, the chucks are everywhere....the tourists love to watch them in the yuppie shopping areas. If they only knew.......

What's the difference between a rock chuck and a Pdog, size? Here in the once great state of CO, it's illegal to shoot em for sport (Pdogs that is) and people will actually call the police on you if they see it.
Take me to your Pdogs

The largest rockchuck I've ever shot weighed exactly 16.2 lbs. That was back in the mid-80's though, most large ones around here now run about 8-12 lbs.

They are a close cousin of the eastern woodchuck and similar in size/weight.

Too bad all newspapers aren't "with it" like that one. If they were, then maybe they wouldn't be on the verge of folding like most of the dinosaur bird cage liners that 99% of them are. I'm not saying, but I'm just saying.
