Few 204 hunting pics from last season

Post by Getemclose »

I got 65 coyotes, 1 fox, 1 skunk and 3 wolves last winter by myself. One triple, 8 doubles. The girlfriend come along a few times and got to witness the triple and 2 doubles. Outta all my dogs 3 coyotes had mites and the wolves were also mite infested. I mainly shot the 35 bergers outta my browning xbolt and sako 85 varmint, my Cz 527 with benchmark 10 twist I run the 40 bergers. Enjoy 8)

Knocked the dust off the 204's the other day and started range testing and confirming loads and drop out to 450 yards. I got my ar500 targets from buddy who owns wild side steel targets. Nothing better to shoot at and confirm guns are dialed.

Shoulder mites yup, usually Wack a few mangy ones but never got any last winter in the area I was mainly hunting. Ticks and fleas are around too, fox are super bad for fleas. Live up northern Alberta, I've poked around this forum for at at least 6-7 years just never liked halfing to load pics to photo hosting site than copy and paste to write stories etc. Finally bit the bullet and got a photbucket account setup lol. Will write more stories this season and post photos as season progresses.

I'm impressed!!! Really nice pics. Did you encounter any problems with the 35 Berger? Your velocity spreads are great, what powder are you using? Did you shoot any other caliber? I'd love to call in one of those big wolves! Keep up the great work,

I've been shooting the 35 Berger for a few years, absolutely love them. I'm using IMR 8208 XBR in my Sako 85 pushing 3865 fps SD of 10.4 fps. My Browning XBolt 204 I'm running H4895 with 35 Berger at 3700 fps with SD of 12 fps, and lastly my CZ 527 with Benchmark 10 twist I'm running 40 Bergers at 3838 fps with SD of 8.1 fps, it will push the 35 Bergers at 4031 fps. I only shot my 204's last winter, I don't hardly shoot my 220,22-250 or 243 anymore, love being able to see them roll when you smash em on the run. I honestly think the 35 Berger outta the 204 is one of the best combinations you can run. I do have a CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Remington arriving shortly , going to run 25 gr Berger Match Varmint out of it, can't wait to test it out. If I'm out strictly for wolves I will run 220,22-250,22-250AI or 243,243AI.

Wow, what a season. Great pictures, thanks for sharing! So did the girlfriend have to go out with you to be with you? You must spend a lot of time in the field to get that many animals. Sure wish my state had a wolf season!! Keep up the good times.
