4 foxes!

Post by foxwhistler »

Didn't think it would be very good tonight as it was a bit light. Walked up to the top of the farm and didn't see anything so tried the vixen call! Nothing really happened so I started walking back and suddenly saw a fox flying across the field! Anyway he must have thought something wasn't right as he turned and started running back to where he came from! Made the mistake of stopping by the hedge for a look back! Turned out to be a really big dog! Started carrying him back and saw another fox coming down the hedge. Didn't even need to call.
After not seeing anything else I started walking back to the truck and saw a fox on the bank about 250yds away! Just couldn't get a clear shot because there were trees in the way! Walked down the track to an opening onto the bank field only to see the fox going over the hedge in the top corner! Decided to try a bit of a call, and saw the fox starting to come back into the field! Managed to get it to a spot where I could shoot it and it rolled about 30yds down the bank! Went up to pick it and walking back. When I got back to the opening I thought I'd have one last look with the thermal and there was another fox heading down the bank! Shot it very close to where I shot the first one and once again it rolled a fair way down the slope! At least it meant I didn't have to climb as far up the bank to retrieve it! Total 2 dogs and 2 vixens! Decided to call it a night!

I only have to be lucky once,
the fox has to be lucky every time!

This is a busy time for me Bill as the farmers have started lambing, so we need to keep on top of them! I've had 19 since the start of the year!
