Ruger Number 1 Lipsey 264

Post by Nomosendero »

I am happy to say that I will be receiving a Ruger Number 1 in 264WM very soon. I had a 7RM
in the past that really did not shoot that well. I understand the barrels are better now. I have the Ross Seyfried article concerning forearm mods if I have to go there.

I will be working up loads with the Nos. 130 Accubond, 140Berger & maybe 140Acc. & SST if needed. For some of the serious Number 1 guys, do you think my chances are good for a shooter, I will test before I tinker.

Thanks

Two things to consider with a Ruger #1, First of all is the trigger, I installed a Klippenger set trigger on mine. Second is the foregrip, I installed a Hicks accurizer. Both of these mods will make your #1 happier (and you also). Gary

In lieu of the Hicks unit, just floating the barrel and bedding/glassing the forearm hanger works very well and is less expensive if it matters. My No.1's have all responded well to the treatment. But like the good Captian said, a replacement trigger is almost mandatory to get these rifles fully up to snuff.
