Anyone shot the 224 Valkyrie yet? Looks like an interesting round that can shoot out to 1,300 yards.

May be just my opinion. But the old 22-250 and 220 Swift work just fine, and a lot less work to obtain/form and reload. Bill K

There will be factory manufactured ammunition available soon. Many of the 22-250s have slow twists and cannot shoot the 90 and 100 grain 22 bullets for long range shooting.

The older one's maybe so. However a new barrel in either of the old standby's, with a faster twist, as some are doing now, will solve that issue, and you still have easier to obtain brass, dies and with less cost overall. But that is the nature of our sport/hobby. Some will try the new cartridge, many others will stick to the old favorites. It boils down to " Too each his own" Bill K

That is true Bill, but that is how I discovered the 204 and 20 VarTarg and will always have them. Sometime you need something new to play with. I did not jump on the 6.5 or 6mm Creedmoor wagon. My concern is the 6.8 brass, my 6mm brass options are pretty slim. Winchester is actually making it for reloaders again but their quality is poor at this point. The 6.8 is not that popular since the military did not go with it. I am hoping that Savage will sell a .422 bolt head to convert a rifle. I have an email into them but it is Christmas time and things are slow.

Me too. I have and shoot the 204R, 20 SCC, 221Fb & a 17Fb, along with others. Mostly shoot the 20SCC & a 20-223ai on squeeks and rockchucks. Some of the 22-250, 20-223ai and 204R on coyotes. But take critters, at one time or the other, with all of them. So far I have stayed away from the 6.5 or 6 creedmore, but did shoot a 243ai, a few years back, that was a fine shooting rifle.
I do have a shoot a 6.8 SPC here and there, and like it. So, to me, working with the 6.8 case would not be any issue. Between me and my youngest son, we have a FEW firearms and play with all of them.. Been doing it since about 1948, so well into the sport and hobby. Been reloading since about 1954 and still enjoy it. Know you will and do also. Bill K

I see federal has ammo for the 224 v. Id try 1 but between 204r,22 hornet, and 22-250 i feel covered and wife is quiet. We had a small fit over my shotgun trade till she seen the value and what i got in it.
I will let you try the 224v n make me drool when you tell us how it drills holes at the WAAAY OUT YONDER RANGE.

I held the Savage Valkyrie at the Portland Sportsman's show. It is nice but I am not an AR guy. Their competition shooter was there and said that Savage will come out with a bolt action rifle in that caliber soon. I did find a different location that sells the bolt head for about $60. Savage said that they would only sell a bolt head to a FFL???
