Kimber Custom Shop Service

I just had a very good experience with the Kimber Custom Shop I thought I'd pass on here. I sent in my Kimber Custom Classic (5") slide to them for installation of Novak/Meprolight Night Sights exactly one week ago yesterday (Monday). The slide was returned to me yesterday evening via the Brown Truck.....exactly one week later with a perfect installation.

This means it was received in Yonkers, NY on Wednesday, and shipped out to me in Oregon the very next day! THAT, my forum friends, is service of the first order!

Here's she is back with her stablemates, ready for some 230gr Hardball:

It's a real plus to have all three pistols fitted with exactly the same sights. The triggers on these pistols have to be felt to be fully appreciated. The Kimber factory does a remarkable job on these semi-custom production pistols. Colt needs to wake up. (I'm saying that, and I love Colt pistols!)

If any of you is considering a carry pistol, you owe it to yourself to try a Kimber. They are the most reliable, accurate pistol out of the box I've ever had the opportunity to shoot.

And they don't look bad either!

Thanks Waldo, I agree. Life is too short to carry and shoot an ugly pistol! (Or rifle for that matter! )

P.S. If you've just waxed your sweet ride, and take it for a spin, is is just me, or does it seem smoother/faster after a good wash & wax job? :chin: I bet Skipper has an opinion with his Z06 'Vette on that one...... ;)

You definitely pick a few more horse power when it's clean. Aerodynamics, ya' know.

By the way, its a Z07. That's a Z06's worst nightmare.

Skip: Sorry for the mis-label on your 'Vette. I can only imagine the feeling of thrust that puppy must give out of the gate. It's been a while since I had anything close to that kind of horsepower.

If/when you come for squirrels next year, I think you ought to load up the rifles and drive her up here. You'd probably get here faster in it than some overbooked/late plane anyway!

Based on my experience if you do, be sure you put the bug shields on your front bumper.

Oh, and talking about custom shop, S&W can do a decent job dolling up one of thier 1911s:

Dave: I remember the "Bug Incident" you refer to.....that was almost a total 'bug coverage' of our rigs, or at least the leading edges.

Is that your nice S&W 1911? That's so pretty, I'd hesitate to carry it about and shoot it. Does she walk the walk?

That S&W 1911 shown is a factory picture of one of a total of 10 pieces executed by their custom shop. Last report from their site there is one or two left. Price was $10K. Too rich for my blood, and these things are for S&W collectors in any event.

Dave, that's a sweet pistol for sure, but to me, if I ain't gonna shoot it, I ain't gonna own it. Guns are for shooting, not just to look pretty in the safe.

(But if they look good and shoot good, then it's the best of both worlds! ;) )
