SWolf: Good choice; staying home during the ice event. When it's like that here for an extended period, I seldom venture out onto the open highways for the exact same reason....personal safety comes first. The gun will last your entire life, no sense taking a chance on shortening it much sooner on the 'slip-n-slide'.

So then....decisions, decisions eh? If you get both, you'll always have the option either way. Each version has it's own virtues when wearing it will be perfect for the occasion at hand. That way you won't whine to yourself "I should have got the other one too". ;)

Let us know what you end up doing. That is one sweet looking Smith! :D

I figured it was better to stay home than risk hitting the ditch during the trip. As far as the fish fry, it should be a good time. I've got a buddy who has family that has a summer home down in Florida and their love is crappie fishing, which works out well because crappie fries up beautifully!

As far as the holster decision is going, I still have not decided I might end up picking up both but I'm sort of leaning to one of the El Paso Saddlery holsters (one like the tortilla) to start out with. I really like the looks and idea of the SOB Galco holster so maybe in the spring I'll pick up one of those!

You're telling me! The last two weekends we've had ice storms and it's killing me. I'm headed out tomorrow after to to go down to St. Louis. I should have it in my hands by Friday night or Saturday morning at the lastest! I'll be posting pictures probably sometime Sunday night!

Old man winter won't stop me this time!

I know what you're going thru. I have a good friend from another board that lives in Belleville, Illinois. He was having a rough time trying to get to the range the last 2 weekends to shoot his new 50cal M/L.

Have a Safe trip!!

Well the third weekend of bad weather didn't stop me from picking up the new Smith. I made the trip down to the St. Louis area Friday after work and picked up the revolver Saturday morning. It's even sweeter in person :D . I didn't get a chance to take it out since old man winter was in town. I guess I'll have to drool over it for a few more days before I get to take it out. Oh well, at least I have it in my possesion!

Here's a few pictures (I hope to get a few action photos the next trip to the range!)

Wolfster: That is one sawwweeet Smith you've got there. That puppy will be a great field and personal companion. Glad you survived the "glacial event" in going to get her. Let us know how she shoots once you're able to get out.

Congrats, the wait was worth it! ;)

I will keep you guys updated on how she performs at the range, I can't wait to take her out! I'm hoping to try it this weekend if the weather holds out, otherwise I might have to make a trip out Christmas afternoon. :chin:

At least the weather this past weekend was just snow, that I can deal with. The two weekends in a row of ice was crazy, I was determined to get it picked up one way or the other. :P

Been there! The nice thing about shooting in the snow is you typically have the range to yourself...at least that's the way the range back home is.

Well I was finally able to make it out to the range with the little snubby :D . It is a sweet shooter. I shot both .38 specials and .357 mag rounds. Conditions were not great with the wind howling, temps in the low 20's and numb fingers but I still had a great time.

My 1st 14 shots were at the falling steal plates and I went 14 for 14. After that, I shot paper and was able to put up a couple 2 1/2" - 3" 7 shot groups at 12 yards. I'm sure I can do better if I was shooting off a rest and could feel my fingers but all things considered, I was pleased.
