I had some 22 shells that could be approaching 20 years old. Decided the other day to shoot them up. Had a few misfires, but the surprise was when some of the Federals split vertically above the rim. My old 10/22 was just smoking.
No problem with the gun, but was wondering if the powder/primer has a corrosive effect on the case after a period of time.

Lenard, did you take any pics of the shells? It seems strange to me but I'm no expert. Gary
