These are my grandkids and my SIL. The kids were both born in Tucson AZ but recently moved here. Seth and my daughter Michelle are both native Texans and have been living in Arizona for the last seven years. We wanted to take them for their first ever Texas dove hunt. I was skeptical about the hunt because dove have been pretty scarce around these parts over the last few years. They did actually get to shoot quite a decent bag despite the shortage. Even bagged a water snake!!
The grass was pretty tall around the pond so Heidi was a big help retrieving them. She's the greatest retriever and so good with kids.

Skipper, great to see that you got the grands out for a dove hunt! If our sport (passion) is going to survive we need to show the youngsters the enjoyment, not to mention that we can provide quality food for our families. You also have a great looking retriever there!
Shoot straight & often.

Great Skipper, they are our future, as Rick said. Nothing can beat good, clean outdoor sports and shooting in any avenue is the top choice.
Thanks for sharing and those smiles are worth a million dollars, any day.
Great you have young Grand Kids to do this with. My youngest is now 49 yrs and all the rest older and all have their own familys now. But they all, even the two girls, went out with the wife and I in years past. Enjoy, while you can.

Re: Grandkids First Texas Dove Hunt
I only wished Heidi was my retriever. She's such a good dog. She's their dog, well mostly she relates to my daughter Michelle my grandkid's mom. Nowadays when I'm out with family I just stay in the background and pick off the ones they miss. Too bad they aren't quite ready for the duck blind. I WILL INVITE HEIDI.

Know what you mean Skipper. A good dog is a fine asset to any hunt, especially waterfowl. I have always had, mostly Labs. Great dogs.
